Set at Rocky Crest in Mactier, Muskoka, their day was relaxed, emotional, and full of little moments that made it completely their own. Even with chilly temperatures and a strong wind coming off the lake, the rain held off just long enough for them to have the most beautiful outdoor ceremony beside Armishaw Lake.
A Slow, Relaxing Morning at Rocky Crest
One of my favourite things about Caileigh and Trevor’s wedding day was how calm the morning felt. There was no rushing, no pressure, and no strict idea of what “getting ready” had to look like. While Caileigh spent the morning getting ready with her favourite people, Trevor headed out to the golf course with his groomsmen. I love when couples make their wedding day fit who they are instead of feeling like they have to follow a certain timeline or tradition.
For Trevor, “getting ready” looked like spending time golfing with his closest friends before the ceremony. It made the morning feel relaxed, fun, and completely true to him.

A First Touch Instead of a First Look
Instead of doing a first look, Caileigh and Trevor chose to do a first touch before the ceremony.
They stood on opposite sides of the dock overlooking the lake, held hands around the corner, and took a few minutes to talk to each other before the day officially began. It was sweet, emotional, and one of my favourite parts of the day.
Trevor completely bawled.
And honestly? Those are always some of the best moments to photograph.
A first touch can be such a perfect option if you want that emotional connection before the ceremony, but still want to save seeing each other for the aisle.
A Ceremony Among the Pines at Armishaw Lake
Even though it was chilly and windy, we somehow got lucky. The rain held off just for us, and Caileigh and Trevor were able to get married outside among the tall pine trees beside Armishaw Lake.
The ceremony space at Rocky Crest is one of the reasons I love photographing a Rocky Crest wedding. Between the lake, the trees, and the natural Muskoka landscape, it feels peaceful and timeless without needing much else.
There is something so special about a Muskoka wedding ceremony surrounded by towering pines and the sound of the wind coming through the trees.
Personal Details That Made the Day Feel Like Them
Instead of a traditional seating chart, they built a handmade bookshelf with each guest’s table number written along the spine of a book. It was classic, simple, timeless, and fit the feel of the day perfectly. And one of the most impressive details of all? Caileigh is an incredibly talented baker, and she made her own wedding cake. It was a beautiful 2 tiered cake with gorgeous flowers adding a fun pop of colour. It fit the feel of the day perfectly. Knowing she had created it herself made it feel even more personal and meaningful.
