When Brad reached out to me to say that he was planning on proposing to Tori, I was just so so so so excited, we quickly hatched together a plan and figured out there was one of two ways that we could go about doing it:
1: We could fully surprise her and she wouldn’t know that I would be there. I would have to be super stealth and shoot through either trees or a bush so that she wouldn’t see me. OR...
2: We would tell her that he had one a photo shoot and that way she would know there was a photo shoot happening so she could at least know what she wants to wear, but still not know that he was going to pop the question.
We went with option number 2 as where Brad wanted to propose was a very particular location. It was somewhere very special to them where they had taken many dates before. It was a big, open field and it did not offer any coverage so me being stealthy in a bush was not going to work anyways.
Brad and I had a meeting ahead of time and hatched a plan so that we would be able to execute this proposal perfectly. We had a code word for me to say so that way he knew all my settings were ready to go. We then had a second code word for him to use that would indicate to me that he is going to pop the question (I always play music during our sessions and he would request a song called Big Big Plans - could this be any more perfect for a song choice??) When it came time to propose, we were all shaking! It was such a beautiful moment when she said yes and for the rest of the session Brad and Tori were so focussed on each other that I swear they didn’t even notice I was there until the sun had gone down and I told them we had to head back to the cars!
It was truly such a special and beautiful moment, and I am so honoured to have been asked to capture this amazing surprise!
