After 2020, we were all hoping that the big 'C' word would be a thing of the past that we never have to hear again, but then came 2021. As much as 2021 sucked, I feel like it was still a step up from the previous year. Don't get me wrong - it was a hard year...a VERY hard year, but I felt like there was a sense of direction and that the world didn't seem like it was spinning aimlessly into chaos anymore.
Shannah and Markus reached out early on in the year to book a summer wedding with me. They would be traveling from Germany so we were both keeping an eye on the pandemic and unfortunately the difficult decision was made to postpone. Although the wedding was postponed, Shannah and Markus were still able to fly over for a visit and we did an adventure session style engagement shoot, and holy moly am I glad we did!
As much as I love the local parks in the Barrie area it was so refreshing to get into a new place and explore. Hiking is something I really enjoy and the fact that I got to merge this with my job is such a great feeling.
My partner, Toby, also loves the outdoors and all things nature but usually goes off to do his birding while I do my sessions. It was really great that he got to come along for the hike with us and point out the different wildlife and birds along the way. (Check out the Northern Water snake we caught catching some sun in the last photo.) It was basically an engagement session/ guided nature walk/ hike with friends and we had such a great, relaxing time. This is one of those times where I pinch myself and say "wait, I get to connect and hang out with fun people, be outside, see new places, and do photography?? How is this my job?!"
Can't wait for August 2022 for these two!
