Alaa & Matt's Backyard Boho Wedding
With the pandemic throwing the wedding industry into complete chaos these last two years, I have to admit that one positive thing that has come out of it is backyard weddings! I love how they have this ability to really highlights the most important thing: a beautiful couple, celebrating their love for each other, surrounded by the love and support of their friends and family. THIS is what it's all about, and this is exactly what Alaa and Matt's day was. A beautiful summer day, in Matts parent's backyard in Toronto, where these two lovely people tied the knot.
The best part of the day was the surprise Matt had in store for Alaa and her parents. He had reached out to me a few weeks before the wedding to let me in on the secret: In the weeks prior to the wedding, he had been working with someone who helped him translate his vows from English into Farsi, and was also practicing his pronunciation with them so that he could say his vows in both english and Farsi so that her parents could understand the vows he was making to their daughter. This was such a sweet and beautiful gesture that truly took Alaa and her parents by surprise and made for some beautiful shots of their reaction.
The gorgeous boho themed wedding backdrop and rug brought such a warmth and charm which carried into the tented reception area with the vintage inspired table settings.
To be married in a location that is tied to the family is so special and I hope they are flooded with memories of this day whenever they are there. I absolutely loved this wedding and I hope backyard weddings are here to stays long after the pandemic is over.
